About the Author
About the Author
At 60 years old, Craig A. Byrnes is a first time author, residing in Washington D.C. These books were crafted while serving a federally mandated 40-month sentence at a low security correctional facility.
So, what's a man to do when he learns he's going to be incarcerated for a lengthy amount of time? There are choices. He can continue living in the same cycle of mental and spiritual paths that put him there. Or, he can choose to face all the facets of his life, learn to forgive, to let go and move forward into a place of validation.
Bad things happen - even to good people. Yet, EVERYONE has the potential within for tragedy to be transformed.
Whether you're in a correctional facility or on the street, if you spend most of your day compulsively thinking about the future or the past, your mind is the prison, not where you're at.
Craig has written four books in his Meditation Series An Inmate's Guide to Inner Corrections. This series includes Growth, Sustain, Decay and Solitude and each volume includes meditations for the four seasons of the year.

Being A Bear - SINGLE-SIDED
This Being A Bear - SINGLE-SIDED T-shirt design was originally created in 1998 after Craig Byrnes became Mr. DC Bear in Washington DC. Craig was then on his way to the International Mr. Bear Contest 1999 in San Francisco, and this T-shirt design was an AIDS fundraiser. The funds raised at any bear event went to the local bear club.
Now in 2021, Craig is offering this slightly updated version of this popular T-shirt as many people have commented over the years on the sentiments shared on the this shirt. Proceeds from the sale of this T-shirt design will go towards Craig Byrnes' cardiac surgery.
A little history about the International Bear Brotherhood Flag that was designed to represent the Brotherhood of Bears, named for the LGBT slang term bear. What most all of us now refer to this flag design as the Bear Pride Flag was created by Craig Byrnes in 1995.
The colors of the Bear Pride Flag denote the hair colors or skin colors of the human race. Brown hair/skin, Orange for red hair/Native American skin, Blonde hair/Asian skin, Tan or peach-colored hair/white skin, White hair/albino skin, Gray hair, and Black hair/Black skin. The flag was designed with inclusion in mind. The gay bear culture celebrates secondary sex characteristics such as growth of body hair and facial hair, which is typically considered a "bear trait".
